I had a babysitter for a few months and signed a contract stating that I would pay her $175 every two weeks. I lost my second job and talked to her letting her know that the hours that I would need her would go down, she said that was fine and quoted me $100 every two weeks. Two weeks after this verbal change I decided that I did not need her services anymore because I was not happy with her. In the original contract it does say that I have to submit a 2 weeks notice with pay. Here's my question:
I paid her $100 for the 2 weeks of service after I lost my 2nd job, she accepted it. When I told her I didn't want her services anymore and that she was fired, she sent me a bill for $250 stating that if I didn't pay it, she would take me to court. The $250 is $175 for two weeks notice and $75 for what she said I didn't pay for services. Am I legally bound to the contract even though she verbally changed the agreement to $100 and accepted the $100 payment? Does she get the 2 weeks pay even though I fired her?

If the law tells you to do so then you will have to abide it .
The best thing is that you get some consultancy from a legal personnel so that you may get sorted out.
