I'm 22 years old, I live in San Mateo Ca...I have a 2 year old son living in Joliet, Il with his father. In November of last year I allowed my sons father to take my son back with him to Chicago because I needed some time to get on my feet and save some money. We had an initial agreement that We would re-evaluate the situation in 6 months....It's been more than 6 months now and he says that he is not willing to give him up..I said that I wanted to have my son back for 6 months and we could rotate, but he is not willing to compromise. He informed me that he already has a lawyer and warned me that going to court would not be beneficial to me at all....
Just some background, I lived with him in Chicago for 2 1/2 years. Throughout all of my pregnancy he was using Heroin and in trouble with the law..( I was unaware for a very long time) He has put me in debt by withdrawing large amounts of $$ from my bank account which I didn't have. He has stolen jewelry, money and baby shower gifts from me in order to buy drugs....When I was 8 months pregnant on Christmas Eve he decided to run from the cops with me in the car because they were going to pull him over for speeding. He was sent to jail for that for a while....Eventually his family ( who we lived with the whole time) found out that he had been stealing money and other things from him too so they kicked him out....They allowed me to stay because I had the baby and nowhere to go because all of my family lives in California. He eventually went to a rehabilitation center and got clean..... At this point I realized I needed to move back home with my family and forget about him.... He decided he wanted to move here too and get a fresh start.... I started working right away and met someone new and i let things get carried away...since he was finally staying home and taking responsibility for the baby I started going out and spending time with my new boyfriend. He got sick of being a stay-at-home dad and wanted to go back to chicago (because he could do whatever he wanted since his parents would take care of him) I told him to go but that he couldn't take the baby...He fought me for so long and I decided that if he took him for 6 months I could get on my feet and be more able to provide for my son the way I want to. So I finally agreed to the 6 month thing...I don't call very often because of the time difference and my hours at work...Now he has a girlfriend and goes out as he pleases because his mom and grandma will watch our son whenever he asks...I don;t know what to do!!! He doesn't want to give him back and i know that I messed up by letting him go in the first place...Somebody please help me!!!! I need serious advice right away!!!!!:confused:
