We live in Florida.
My wife and I fell behind on rent due to my own health issues. We still owe for August, plus late fee. We have lived here for about 5 years now and haven't signed a new lease sinced the first one, and it was a 1 year lease. We sent him a 2 week notice to vacate on 8/17/07 with intent to pay up by the 8/31/07. The landlord came by while I was at work and told my brother that he sent a Registered letter to me and that I must vacate in 3 days or he would call the Police over. Does this sound right ? Could the 2 week vacate notice not be valid due to my tardiness of this months rent ?
As an added note:
We were given a copy of a renewed lease a couple of years back, but never signed one. Does that matter at all, or are we month to month ?
