On Sunday 6th May 2007 I had a really bad fall whilst out running. I suspected that I had broken my arm/shoulder and possibly my cheek bone. I visited the doctors on Tuesday 8th May 2007, he examined my arm and told me it was badly bruised and signed me off work for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I still could not drive due to the pain in my arm/shoulder but returned to work. After 2 days at work I went to the Accident and Emergency Department at the local hospital and once again was examined, my arm at this time was black with bruising from my shoulder down to the inside of my elbow. The nurse pressed along my arm and decided it wasn't broken so sending me for x-ray was a waste of time. She went to see her manager for advice, he didn't even examine me just sent a card saying that I had injured but not broken my shoulder. After 3 months of pain and inability to raise my arm I returned to my doctor who arrange for an x ray - result was slight indentation over a healed fracure and a possible rotator cuff tear. I am going to an Orthopaedic Surgeon next week and may have to have an operation. If this happens I will not get paid for having time off work. Can I claim against the hospital?
