After a questionable search and coerced confession, I was arrested after the police found cocaine in my home. 18 months later, I was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a C felony. This was my first offense. I was offered an SIS and 5 years probation and 200 hrs community service (vs a trial), which I agreed to. My attorney provided insufficient representation, refusing to meet with me after our initial consultation and foregoing vital communication. Through an interoffice memo from my attorney's law firm, I learned that the prosecuting attorney, who had appeared for several of my court dates, was now the new associate in my counselor's firm. Though he explicitly stated in his memo that his representation would be inappropriate and a conflict of interest, he was assigned as the lead and only counselor for the remainder of my case. Given these circumstances, is it possible to get my case dismissed?
