My family and I recently took a job transfer to the state of Texas; we have all been born and raised in California our entire lives. I went to change my drivers license over to Texas and was denied for now, due to a a ticket showing my drivers license number and the citation was issued to someone in North Carolina, with the same name; according to Texas. Upon getting this information, I told them that is impossible...I have never been in North Carolina, my entire 46 years of life. They gave me a case number and told me I had to call and handle it.

I called the transportation department there, they asked me if I had ever served in the military service, I have not. They said the middle name on the ticket is not correct or matching my license, but the license # is the same. They told me the Distr. Attorney office had to handle it. I called them and they said they needed a letter; I faxed a letter to their office and mailed a copy. They replied with a letter saying the transportation department had to handle it. I called the transportation department back and ...got the run around, was told the DA's office needed to handle it. They said I may need to appear in person before the judge. This is causing great hardship on me and my family and it may cost my job, cause me to lose my house, car, etc. Is this identity theft? They act like I am guilty..? I don't get it...what don't they understand about NEVER LEAVING CALIFORNIA OR NEVER VISITING THE FAR AWAY LAND OF NORTH CAROLINA? What ever happened to "Innocent until PROVEN guilty"?

This is crazy. If I had never left California and accepted a job transfer I probably would never of known about any of this.

What should we do now? I'm afraid this is going to get expensive and the expense should not fall on the innocent here.

Could you: Please Help Me Out:confused:
Any and all advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

With sincere gratitude:confused:
