I live in Iowa.

In 1997 we put a new mobile home on a piece of land owned by my grandpa. We payed to have all utilities installed and ran to the mobile home. We cleared the ground of brush and made it a livable lot. When determining where to put the home, grandpa said my mom had 10 acres to put it where ever we wanted.

We never purchased the land the home is on because grandpa said mom was going to get land when he passed.

We never paid rent on this place, it was never expected or asked for, it was basically our place with the exception the land was in grandpas name.

Grandpa recently passed. The will never specified which land went to who, only that each kid got 10 acres.

My aunt that is the power of attorney has never liked my mother so she is making everything very difficult. She told us we had to move the home, that mom cannot keep the land willed to her (unless she buys all of the land). She says the land has to be sold as one parcel.

This aunt has done several things that are very questionable and I'm wondering if what she has said holds any merit. My mother is seeking council, but it would be nice to know what my become of my situation.

So I guess my questions are:

Do I have any chance of getting to stay on the ground?

Does mom have a chance of getting to keep her ground? (she is the only one that doesn't want to sell)

They told us we need to move the home in 30 days, is this legal?

I should mention that they have twice over the past week agreed to let mom keep half her gound, and then backed out before we could have it surveyed.

I appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks in advance!
