I have a daughter who is 14. Under the court agreements between her mother and myself, She gets her during weekdays (During the school year) and I get her for the weekends (During the school year). In the summer it flip-flops. I pay her child support, etc. This agreement has been working fine, untill about a few months ago, when my daughter has expressed interest in living with me. to make a long story short, she has become increasingly unhappy living with her mom. I am all FOR the idea of her living with me, but I have a feeling her mom will try to make it difficult to make the transition. My questions are as follows...
1- At what age can a child CHOOSE which parent to live with? (In the state of Maryland). If my daughter is not old enough, does her voice have any say in the courts?.
2-If her mother says no to her coming to live with me, what are my legal rights and what steps should I take to pursue this issue.
BTW...We have joint custody through the courts.
